Hello again- more questions.

What is the reason in "Friends" & "Rivals?"

Whats the reason in your court members having claims?

Also can this error be fixed- on the event screen window my Portrait and Shield icons (on left & right of event window) are sitting on top of the events notice & covering up the words.

{I was going to post the screenshot but I am not "allowed" to attach any picts! :eek: }

You get a small relations boost with other leaders who are friends with you and a small loyalty bonus if your vassal is also your friend. The opposite is true for rivals. It is also tied to lots of events, for example you and your rivals can get events firing to send assassins to try to kill each other.

Upload the pic to imageshack or photobucket, then link to it.

Court members, just like anyone else, can inherit. If some relative of a courtier croaked and had a claim to the Duchy of Fartalot, said courtier can inherit that claim.

They can't do anything about the claim really, as they rule no land. But you can press the claim for them in peace talks, IF you don't have a claim on the title yourself.

It will show up when you click through the options. Instead of the box reading (when it is highlighted green IIRC) something about installing Ruler as Count of so-in-so, it will read to install the courtier as Count of So-in-so. You also get courtiers with a claim as the result of an event "Claimholder to enemy flees to your court".

Then you get a friendly vassal for free without having to select one. I'll have to read those "claim the titles" a bit closer now.

I read those coutier events and didn't know why they even appeared or why I should care- now I know what to look for & why!

Thanks!

I'd hardly call the +-3% monthly loyalty a "small" bonus/penalty though (+ for friends as vassals, - for rivals as vassals, obviously).

Thats true, having a vassal be your friend is actually one of the most significant loyalty boosts you can get.

Not to mention you can get events to claim an enemy's title for free.
