  • I confess I'm new to AARs and so I'm unsure if the humorous tone I'm going for is entirely appropriate. Even if not, I hope you'll appreciate something a little different
  • I haven't yet completed a game of Stellaris. Bear with me if I make rookie mistakes mid-end game
  • You can also see the settings I'm playing with – pretty much normal, I may turn it up if I feel the game offers no more challenge, but I'm not quite sure I trust myself with hardmode
  • I'm from the UK! Ergo, I'm using English spelling, for any potentially-puzzled Americans.

And so, the tale of Galactic Friendship begins...

A recorded speech from our almighty ruler, Super Best Friend Shushk

“My fellow Friends,

As promised, the day for us to take to the stars has finally come. It is my great honour to introduce the first of our space-faring fleet...

The Friendly Gawagga will be our eyes, surveying the galaxy for resources that will benefit our cause. The Friendly Uggoib will be our hands, constructing outposts so that we may extend our reach. And most importantly of all, The Super Friendship Squad will be our hearts, going out to the other species we share this glorious galaxy with!

Enthusiastic applause can be heard, along with much whooping and cheering from the crowd.

Our time is now, my people! To mark this great change in direction and purpose, I have bestowed a new name onto our race. We are no longer simply the Friends. We are the Galactic Friends – for we have a whole universe to explore... a universe filled with beautiful and exotic species we can bring into our fold!

We shall find their planets! We shall march on their cities with open arms! We shall learn from them but more importantly they shall learn from us – they shall learn the happiness and purpose we derive from unity, for what joy is there in being alone? We will give them joy!

The applause ascends to a veritable roar, the jubilant cries of thousands of civilians. They chant their new name – Galactic Friends – over and over in eerie harmony, fading to silence as the recording ends.

Notes on the initial territories of the Empire, by Ship Scientist Shubblub

Once the Friendly Gawagga was cleared for launch we immediately proceeded to scan our capital system, named by our glorious Super Best Friend Shushk as the Friendship Fort. While this will be the hub of our future friendships in the galaxy, our resource findings were… poor. Only one planet was identified as suitable for energy stations, and even so only capable of producing a distinctly average output.

We proceeded to scan the neighbouring star, but findings were also sparse, with the capability of bearing two energy and two mineral stations. In addition, no finds of historical value were discovered in either system, to the disappointment of all Galactic Friends residing in the capital. I know many are eager to hear of the species that roamed the galaxy before us, and the legendary friendships they must have forged.

If we are to discover such pieces of history, as well as more resources to keep up with our ever-expanding Super Friendship Squad, we must explore and establish outposts in every corner of the stars. We must make our territories, our ‘arms’ wider, so that we may envelope all of the galaxy in our warm and emotionally satisfying embrace!

Breaking news! First verbal contact with another species!

Not long after the Super Friendship Squad was sent out to explore nearby star systems, they reported seeing alien ships crossing their path - a sighting that was met with rapturous joy by the people of the empire. The sociology team was urged to research our neighbours and future friends and after their tireless efforts, this news reporter is delighted to confirm that we have indeed opened communications with this species!

They name themselves the Opalgelc Confederacy, a beautiful winged race standing at roughly 3 Galactic Friends height. We have a statement from Friendship Coordinator Obbjed on the conversation - “While initially reluctant to open communications, they soon became very loud and assertive, deeply passionate about our future involvement. They have a shy side however, as they are reluctant to answer some questions about their race and territory. Once we have worked past their bashfulness, I predict a long and deep friendship.”
