The Kingdom of Poland, as a country, was still very un-established. Compared to her Catholic neighbors in the West and the South, she was still relatively small. Christianity had spread throughout the kingdom over the last 100 years since its acceptance, giving her a more accepted stance with the Christian kings in the German Empire. In size though, she was still mostly inferior, and plans were being made to increase her reign. Directly to the north of the Kingdom, lay the Pagan lands of the various Tribes of the area: The Pomeranians, The Prussians, The Smhud, and the Lithuanian. All of which were ripe for the taking. The Polish King, Boleslaw was a young King, and he was willing to spread the name of God to save these Pagan peoples. His forefathers had realized their mistake and switched to Christianity, and he was planning to help the Pagan Chiefs of the North, recognize their mistakes as well…

January 8th, 1066 of the Year of Our Lord
It was a quiet day in the castle grounds at Krakow. A figure was heading speedily towards the Kings Chamber. They were stopped by the guards and after stating the intent of their visit the doors to the great chamber were flung open. There the man found the king standing by the window.
“Good day my Lordship” began the man, taking to one knee. Boleslaw motioned for him to stand
“Good day indeed, I’m glad you came with such haste, Jerzy” replied the king.
“We have some very important and urgent issues to attend to” he said as he motioned Jerzy to a map sprawled out on a table.
“Tell me Jerzy, have you ever been to the sea?”
“No Sir King, I have not”
“Would you like to see it some day; smell the salt air, hear the waves’ crash on the shores?”
“Indeed, it sounds like a charming place” replied Jerzy, a smile creeping onto his face. He was recently appointed Grand Marshall of the Armies of Poland; A position that provided him with many a man under his command, and much prestige. It also made him crave combat more. He was a military man, and his father, and grand father both fought under the previous kings. He was proud of his heritage.
The king once again drew his attention to the map.
“I consider myself a skilled tactician, Jerzy, but I know you can hold your own as well. I suggest we try to build up a considerable store of gold, as not even the loyalist of nobles would die for me without pay” he chuckled then continued “then we rally our forces, hopefully straight on the wings of spring, and attack the heathens at their positions in Danzig.” The king finished with that and Jerzy smiled. He liked the plan indeed, and could not wait to taste blood…
Enjoy!? Who knows, the next update will hopefully ahve better structure and be more fun to read. For now you have the plans for the future.
