I just reinstalled hearts of iron today after taking a break from playing and now for some reason the function keys are not working at all none of them. I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and added the 1.06 patch and still none of the function keys work i tried with the fresh version and they wont work and still with the 1.06 they still wont work.

I have the new logitech wireless MX keyboard and i thought that might be the problem so i plugged in my old cabled keyboard and reinstalled and still nothing.

Before when I had the game installed I remember the function keys working fine.

Do you have an Flock key is it on?

Yes the wireless keyboard has a f-lock key and it is on. Also the old keyboard I also tried does not have a f-lock key on it at all.

All the other keys seem to work ctrl +/- increases or decreases the time, the pause/break key pauses/unpauses the game.

When I turn the f-lock key off and hit any of the F keys my computer drops back to desktop and does the programed F command like opening my music file and i can easily just click on hearts of iron to return to the game with no problems.

Got to be something on your end since no one else is complaining. And you said they worked fine before, I guess I would ask what changed?

Just one silly question...
I have a new machine (laptop), and I can't use anymore Ctrl + or Ctrl - to change the game speed (the key "+" isn't there anymore!! :( ).
I'm kind of tired of going to the options menu every 5 minutes to change the speed.
Any suggestions (apart from buying new hardware of course)???
Thank you!!

There are no silly questions just silly answers.

It could be hard to see what the Ctrl keys has to do with function keys (as in the thread title), but maybe there is a connection after all... The admins probably want you to start a new thread for a new problem, but here goes:
What laptop do you have? Brand/Model? And how familiar are you with using this brand/model?

As yours is a laptop, you prolly don't have a numpad, so those keys generally on the numpad should be accessible by pressing fn (or another key) and then another key. But as Bulldog said, try out every key in worpad or in a plain text document to see which ones you need.

I don't have a numpad. I used to on my desktop computer though (and that's exactly why I miss those keys so much)

What is the "fn" key??
I will try that and anything you suggest...

Thanks a lot!!

On my laptop, i don't have a keypad either, but i have a small blue fn key next to the ctrl keys. And on certain keys, above the normal letters/numbers/etc, i sometimes have a blue letter/symbol above the normal one. That means that to write this particular symbvol, i need to press the fn key and that other key.

I'll try as soon as I get home.
