I started a new game as a Northern custom character, it was going great for a while but I've been meeting very constant crashes. Normally restarting has been able to get past them but I'm at a point where all autosaves and my actual save always crash at a certain date, leaving me unable to progress. What's the cause of this, how do I avoid or fix it?
 
I might be getting the same issue. I'm on 2.5.2 with no submods. I started the game in the earliest era as a minor pirate lord in the Stepstones. The problem I'm running into is that the game crashes after maybe an hour or so of gameplay (sometime during 8001?). This is a crash to desktop with no error, so I'm going to have to look for logs.
 
Ok, I fixed the problem. I have yet to know if it's permanent however it has been several months since 10 June, the troublesome date, and I have yet to have it crash. First you need to go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK2/Logs. Then it's probably wise to do a search in the search bar for your troublesome date in question. I went to game.txt and found this from my latest crash. Note you need to have loaded the save game in question and had it crash most recently for these to show up.

The removing nomad for Dosh Khaleen things go on for quite a while. If you'll look at the third like you'll see Ko Zekko also suffers the same fate. However this wasn't the game, this was me killing him by console commands. (console using tilde button, "charinfo", hover over target, "kill *character ID*")

So I decided to kill 2 people, the leader of Vaes Dothrak (who was *not* the head of the Dosh Khaleen red state on the map, but this reappeared after her death) and a khal of a khalasar surrounding it. I'm pretty sure killing her did the trick since it reverted to control of generic "dosh khaleen" and didn't crash after. Hope this helps someone.

Interesting, I've changed up the Dosh Khaleen maintenance event a bit to try and avoid this sort of thing. Thanks for bringing this up.
 
Sadly it appears I didn't last a full year past that point :( this thing really does crash a whole lot.
I checked my log out and it doesn't seem to match up with yours either.

Thing is, I can still load up the save and then go a year or two. For me, specific dates aren't important for the crashes, as I can usually go a few years before it drops out again. Hopefully we're just blind, and someone will enlighten us! :p
 
Just use the command 'kill' on all those people who has this "getOwner" thing. I had one of these, and after i killed the person, i went 10 years without a problem.
Only one of those characters exists though, according to the Find Character tool :| Waheek was a Jogos Nhai with no relation to the Waheekid dynasty.
