Welcome to another Tinto Talks, the Happy Wednesday where we give you information about our rather secret game with the Codename Project Caesar, so that we can get feedback to improve the game before launch.
Johan did imply two weeks ago that the game has been greenlit by Paradox, make of that what you will.

I was gonna say they couldn't afford not to at this point, but...

Last year, pdx made 584.6 million swedish money profit after tax, which is 53.6 million euros.

also, they say the 5 most profitable titles every quarter (in alphabetical order). Summing up over 2023-2024:
- all eight quarters included CK III, HOI IV and stellaris
- 6 quarters of Cities: Skylines and 4 of Cities: Skylines II
- 2 quarters for Age of Wonders IV and Victoria III
- 1 for The Lamplighters League

Leaving also only the single one for Europa Universalis IV, namely Q3 2023, which curiously was a quarter without dlc (there were 3 dlc's in these two years).

So it seems like pdx could (at least purely financially) perfectly afford just shutting down tinto :(

I guess we have to wait and see but just the fact that this upcoming week we will not only get the last feedback TT but a reveal on how the Ilkhanate IO and Timur situation will work feels big.

Almost like we’re entering the final stages

they are all obvously there for some eu5 event... but does that mean the game will be announced soon? i dunno, maybe... however, usually before a big announcement they usually hint a bit here and there. so far very little hinds (besides these pics from youtubers). they even made a big thing about that "civ killer" game

edit: millenia is the game
edit2: civ killed itself

April 1 seems really neat date to make announcement! It may stir little confusion as fools day, but it is start day for EU5 and paradox is known to make date related jokes before.

We've been fooled all along, PC doesn't exist, it's all a joke, they'll confirm it on 1st April, nothing ever happens billions must donate to Grey Eminence

We simply don't know right now.
It's not like they need to formally announce the game before youtubers can make content about it. We already have so much info anyway and the only thing an announcement will change is getting a tentative release date and being able to see the 3D map for the first time.

Malforian's post indicates that the announcement won't come for a while.

A while could mean 2-4 weeks which would check out with what Ludi said in a video that he DELETED last week after saying that once he comes back in 3 weeks he'd have a shit tone of EU5 content to upload. Presumably because the game will have been announce.

I would think they would want to have most of the map feedbacks done so they can present a mostly finished map in the announcement trailer. Ofcourse, they could also announce without showing the map.

Lol they are going to take months to finish the review. They are not going to wait to announce just for that. Its clear from feedback the map is more than fine in order to announce a game, all the feedback are improvements

They probably won't stay there for more than a week, so next week is the week.
Though an actual release date us still up in the air, PDX does usually takes a year between announcement and launch, but EU5 has been releasing diaries for over a year already, it's a very unique situation, I don't think we can compare this to previous examples.

Agreed we cant draw comparisons. I doubt it will be in a week. Most of them as far as I know have returned by now so it was literally just a weekend. Based on the Ludi video i mention above it should be announce within the next month. They are not going to have most eu5 content creators yap about the game knowing they have actually seen and played the game.

Considering the start date is 1 april, announcing it then seems fairly likely…
[/QUOTE

I mean you can expect anything from the trolls at PDX but it seems unlikely. The announcement could be a bit overshadowed by the fact everyone would be saying its an Aprils fools joke and some people would not bother check it out?

Based on this, my guess is it will be announced sometime next week( the week of the 7th April). Wednesday seems to be the final tinto talks on Changes, so announcing it after that makes sense.
