Description​

If I attempt to gift a weapon to a knight, the recipients opinion always says -80 "because artifact is useless to <this person>". Yet it is not since it is a weapon or armor. If I deliver the gift nonetheless, the target does equip the artifact as they should (and receives bonuses from it). It is the opinion of the gift that is bugged.

Steps to reproduce​

Have a non-pedestal weapon artifact and attempt to gift it to someone. Check the recipients opinion.

I am trying to adapt my mod Search & Trade Artifacts to the latest version of the game and also encountered this issue. It's pretty easy to reproduce, just try to gift any of your artifacts (not just non-pedestal weapon) to someone, the recipient opinion always says "artifact is useless" with -80 modifier, even if it's not.

After debugging my mod, I believe the issue is in the can_equip_artifact trigger. This trigger is now checking whether the character owns the artifact to be equipped, while this was not the case before. Perhaps this is related to the following sentence from the update notes:

- When equipping artifacts, actually check the character owns it

This breaks the game in multiple places, since the above trigger is used not only in the Gift Artifact interaction, but also in several other places, for example in events to determine the chance for an artifact to be stolen during a raid.

Please fix this!

Can confirm. My wife Matilda refuses to equip any of the artifact I gifted her, despite being landed and queen. Once I toggled console command to play as her, I was able to manually equip them; the equipment work just fine once they were equipped on her.
