I'm also having the same problem as well, what's worked for me so far on occasion was to turn down the time speed so that the game won't have too much to handle upon ruler death. It doesn't work 100% of the time but maybe a few times it will. Hopefully Paradox fixes this, since having max speed is crucial to games like these.

Hello there! Thank you for your report, unfortunately, it seems that your save file was at some point affected by mods - keep in mind that mods, even the visual ones, can affect stability of the game and even disabling them not always helps, as they can affect the save file itself. If you will be able, please provide a fresh save file which was unaffected by any mods at any time.
