Summary

Game Crash once connected to Multiplayer lobby

Description

The vast majority of games I've tried to connect. My game client successfully connects to the Multiplayer lobby (the loading gear stops spinning from the load screen, and the game sounds for the lobby start.. The host and other players see me as in the lobby), however the loading screen persists and I am unable to interact with the lobby. Looking at processes, it appears that the CPU is almost entirely utilized at this point. Typically 30-60 seconds later my OS suggests to terminate the process as unresponsive(repeatedly if I choose to wait instead of terminate). Since it goes unresponsive, there is no crash report pulled after terminating the process. This has happened without mods, with files verified, game reinstalled. Has been noticeable in 1.6 and 1.7. I should note that on very few occasions I have successfully connected to the lobby and been able to play without crashes, but the success rate is below 10%. When playing single-player, I can play through an entire campaign to 1936 without difficulty.

Steps to reproduce

Launch from Pop-OS 22.04 LTS (utilizes Ubuntu kernel), Launching from flatpak version of Steam. Running natively (no proton compatibility tool). Graphics settings on Minimum. Steam account linked to Paradox account (as required for MP play)Join via-ID or direct connect to public lobby has this occurring.

Game Version

Current - 1.7.5 (has been occuring in previous versions)

Hi! Sadly the QA team is not able to assist with non-Ubuntu distros and especially not flatpak Steam installations. The game (both SP and MP) is tested on Ubuntu environments on native Steam installations. I'll move the thread to our Technical Support forum in case they have any further input.

Yes, we only test on and support the native Steam client from Valve:
"Install Steam Now"

That said, I'm not sure that would be causing your MP issues - this game does not use the Steam MP servers, but an external provider Nakama. The fact you can sometimes get through seems to point away from it being a firewall issue, but if you have a VPN you could run that up before starting the game - any better?
