I was not not experiencing in early game but in around mid game it crashes every 5 minutes, and before that would infrequently crash. It appears to hitch and then freeze and needs to be alt tabbed, when coming back into the application the screen is all white as it crashes except for the top left where there is a very squashed image of the galaxy map (or whatever I was looking at when the game froze).

Data from most recent crash attached.

Game has no mods active and after verifying files crash is still occurring.

This is just happening with this one galaxy, is that right? Others you already have, or might start now as a test, are okay?

Right-click on stellaris.exe, properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullscreen optimizations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply, and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select the fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log

Thanks for the help! This is a new computer so this is the only galaxy I have at the moment. Made suggested changes but there was no Vsync option in game so in both settings files just switched the yes to a no for Vsync. Monitor I'm using has Gsync on not sure if that is why Vsync is not showing up in the ingame settings.

Crashes still happening except now I have to manually kill the process to close the application.

We see two unrelated crashes in stellaris.exe in that dxdiag, plus an AppHang event. Such varied problems usually point to a cause outside the game. Update that Nvidia driver to April 2024 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Can you try with a new test galaxy please?

And, what antivirus app do you use? Make sure stellaris.exe. is in all its exceptions lists.

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log

Let us know how that goes please.

And, Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 30 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Turned off Intel Turbo Boost in BIOS. Much more stable running temps for the CPU and in the galaxy that was crashing every 5-15 minutes was having no issues for last session. I seem to have solved it. Thanks for looking into this for me!
