Game crashes after clicking character portrait

Description​

I click a character portrait to bring up the details of a character. Instead of those details coming up, the game hard crashes to desktop. I've attached a screenshot and a crash folder for the most recent crash.

While the attachments are with Princes of Darkness, this is the same error that is occurring without any mods enabled. I've seen it reported elsewhere in this bug reports forum as well but it doesn't look like people are attaching the crash folders reliably.

Steps to reproduce​

1. Start a game.
2. Play for a while.
3. Click character portraits to open the details panel.
4. At some point the game will hard crash.

Normally, when you click a character's portrait in a list, you expect the full display of that character to open with the details of the character. Instead, nothing opens and the game crashes. Looking in the error log, the following lines seem important:
