game crashes after the intro is shown (win xp)

Hello, I'm trying to play crusader kings on my laptop (winXP), but after the intro is shown, the following error "could not initialize video" shows up and the game crashes.
The exceptions log says: 0x80000003 at address: 0x7c91120E
Renaming the avi folder into avi.old doesn't fix anything, just makes the error occour in the very beginning.
How can I fix this problem?

Try this, update your video and soundcard drivers and/or rename the music folder to music.old
