Everything was running fine for a while but now the game crashes when I try to launch it. I see the initial loading screen and spinning icon for a bit, but then it crashes and a crash report window pops up. The crash reporter also fails if I try and send a report.

I've tried all fixes I've found online including reinstalling, disabling my firewall, running straight from the .exe, and running as admin. But nothing has worked. I'm open to any suggestions at this point.

error.log seems to be empty, but it also makes a folder in the ...\CK3\crashes\ folder so I've attached what I thought would be relevant files and a zip of the latest folder.

No crashes against ck3.exe showing in that dxdiag, which is odd. If you exit the Steam app entirely then run ck3.exe directly, what happens?

What antivirus app do you use?
Add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

It is possible that I ran dxdiag after a restart before trying to run CK3. Does this new one show the crash?

Closing Steam, killing its background processes, and running ck3.exe directly actually worked! Thanks! I thought I had tried that before but apparently Steam was still running in the background. Do you have any ideas on how I can get it to run correctly through Steam? Fully killing Steam and running the .exe is quite inconvenient.

I had already added it to my exceptions list and I don't use a randsomeware protection software.

You probably have a corrupted save game in the Steam cloud. Try disabling Cloud Sync in Steam for this game then running it.
