hallo guys,

i have the same problem ( i mean crashing ) although i have the latest patch installed and by crashing i get the following message:
MICROSOFT C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY
RUNTIME ERROR
THE APPLICATION ROMGAME.EXE REQUESTED TO BE TERMINATED.PLEASE CONTACT TO THE APPLICATION DEVELOPERS.

What should i do about this?:wacko:

Thanks in advance!

First you should DL the "C++ redistributable runtime", and load it onto your system. More information on that at this link: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382611

Also, I found the game did not get past loading if I had less than a Gig of RAM. I don't know if it is the same for everyone, but I tested my system in three configurations of RAM, 512, 1024 and 2048. At the end of it all I concluded that at least on my system (which has an old single core processor) I needed a gig to make it functional and 2 gigs to make it smooth.

I imagine someone with a better processor might need less RAM.

thanks for the reply, i' ve followed your advice but the game still crashes during "autosave", after downloading and installing schould i uninstall and reinstall the game?

i have Windows XP and 1GB RAM, updated the graphic card driver and dx but the game still crasches.

What else schould i do?

Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files.

Thanks again :)

i have uploaded the first two files but with the third one you asked every time i' m trying to upload it i get the following message "invalid file" and it stops.

i hope these two are sufficient.

thanks

That's because uploads are only accepted of certain file types, and .log is not one of them. Either rename it to .txt, or simply paste the contents here.

Edit your settings.txt file and change multisampling=0, renderTrees=no and master_volume=-1 (which will disable all sound). If that helps at all, undo the last two as it was probably the first one that helped.

thanks again,

i would like also to inform you that the file "logs" contents a file titled "error". i don' t know what it is and if it could help fixing the problem.

i' m gonna try out what you advise and i'll let you know if it works!

Thanks

Did you get Rome:Gold as a download from Steam, Gamers Gate, or elsewhere? The problem you have has been seen by others here in that circumstance. If Steam, try validating the game in the Steam client, that can help. If GG, post in their help forums; one customer was given access to separate downloads of Rome and VV, which worked fine.

Hi,

I've purchased the game in the stores, so i have the CD of the game.

ROME-GOLD including VV ( patsch 2.1 )

I really wonder what's wrong with the game.:(

I think i fulfill the game requirements and despite of it i get it crashed.

Wow, that's the first time I've seen this with a CD version. I'ce reported it back to Paradox. Meanwhile, do you have access to another machine of any sort? If so can you try the same CD on that machine please?

Unfortunally i don't have access to another mashine.

Thanks again.

Meanwhile i have deactivate the "autosave" mode. i don't Know if it's gonna help, but so far i don't have any other solution.

The only other thing I can suggest is taking the CD back to the store and asking for a replacement copy.
