 I'm having a big problem playing the game:
Whenever I try to load ascenario other than the tutorial, the game crashes to desktop! The tutorial crashes during gameplay, but not too often only after 30mins or so...

I'm running a P200 with 96mgs, Hercules Stingray/128, SB AWE32
and W95. I have updated EU to 1.09 (UK).

Would appreciate any help/hints.

I would uninstall it, defrag your disk, and reinstall it. Try playing the no music version, see if that helps.

I se that you also posted this in a certain strategy newsgroup and gor a reply saying that your system wasnt up to it. Ignore that advice - it should play OK.

Try Andrews advice - especially running the "No Music" version available from the "Start"/"Programs"/"Paradox Entertainment" group.

It sounds as if something is running in the background. Try the "3 finger salute" (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and closing all programs but Explorer and Systray before running the game.
Make sure anti virus/firewalls etc are off.

Let us know how you get on.

Hooray!

Yes!
It's alive!
It's Alive!

Thanks Uglyduck!

Killing all apps helped. I managed to start two scenarios
without a glitch. Now I'm doing it again to find the culprit
software.
You said that antivirus could be an issue, I have some old
f-secure (f-prot 95?) program running in the background, I'm
starting with that. Also could be my Intellipoint mouse software,
I seem to have seen a lot of mouse related grumbling...

The game starts much faster now? Am I hallucinating?
BTW,there was no need (according to defrag) to defrag the hard disk.

:D rackham the RED :D :D :D (being very happy y'know)

It could be the Mouse Software - anything that "has a look" now and again at what is happening can cause a crash.
If it does turn out to be that then "normal" mice are cheap and windows drivers will run them - the game is worth getting one especially for it.
Anyway - nice to know you are happy. Now enjoy the game and dont be too shy to post here. You will get a better, and more civil, response, than in the Newsgroups!

>BTW,there was no need (according to defrag) to defrag the hard disk

It always says that. I've had it take hours to defrag a disk it says doesn't need it! It's a flat-out lie, any win9x machine that is used at all needs defragging after a few weeks at least.

I'm beginning to think my crashes were memory-related. Quantity-wise.
Killed half of the processes(?):All clear, then the other half, still running OK.
I found no single program running in the background that was distrupting EU, so I just stopped loading some of the programs and it runs just fine.
