Game crashes when I touch land doctrines

Basically, if I look at a land doctrine or a tech team working on one, the game ctds. I'm running Armageddon on a mac, and this problem only cropped up after installing the 1.3a patch (I think it was 1.3a, it could have been 1.3b, but it doesn't really matter since I tried it on 1.3b and it crashed then as well). Does anyone know why this is happening? Workarounds are also greatly appreciated.
