When I open the game it does not log in so I cannot do the ruler challenges. It just says "logging in" forever. Any advice on this?

You log in in the launcher, not within the game. Does that work?
If not you may have a firewall blocking ck2game.exe

Thanks for the reply, I was talking about the launcher. It was not the firewall! I found a solution though!
If the launcher is stuck "logging in" just delete the log information from the folder and log in again. That solved it for me!
It is still worthwhile to check why it gets stuck nonetheless
