I am running a 2019 16 inch MacBook Pro on 13.0.1. I use to play this game regularly and recently I tried to launch the game. I will get as far as the Paradox launcher and when I press start it says the file is damaged. I have tried to restart my mac, reinstall the game, checked file integrity and it still gives me the same error. When I check the game integrity it says it is ok. I have other games that launch with the Paradox launcher and they work, it is just this game in particular so at this point im stumped!

Please attach here the game log
~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/debug.txt
To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/ .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

THEN try Safe Mode - does that work or what happens?

It seems that I don't have a debug file, would this have to do with the fact that I have completely deleted the old files and reinstalled the game? I have included screenshots of what is contained in my game file as well as the errors I get when trying to launch the game through the paradox installer and through safe mode on steam which doesn't work either

The game should make a degug.txt file even if it fails to launch. The implication of it missing is the launcher is not even trying to start the game. What happens if you run PrisonArchitect.app directly from Finder?

For that Safe Mode error, make a copy of PrisonArchitect.app and rename it to exactly Prison Architect.app , with that space. Does that then work?

@Enigmaticrose4 I reported this as a bug years ago but nothing's been done apparently - is this something you can bring up please?

It gives me the same file is damaged error as if I were to launch it through the paradox launcher. It did however give me a different error code AFTER the prompt to delete the file which I have attached below.
Okay I found a solution on this. You have to go to Settings -> Privacy and Security. Then click on Open anyways for prison architect
This was the fix I was looking for! The first attempt of launching the game after I enabled it to open anyway gave me an error which I will attach below. I am unsure if the error can be read since it is one that is sent to apple but I will attach it anyways. The second attempt in launching the game though the paradox launcher worked! It seems that the files are being blocked by the system since it is being shown as an "unidentified developer"

Where do I enable open anyway? Right clicking on the prisonarchitect app icon after getting there via local files?

I don't see those options in OS Ventura :( . Also, when looking online it looks like there is a point where it shows you the app it blocked but I haven't seen that either. Frustrating!

Ahh you use Ventura, lovely then  -> System preferences -> Privacy and Security. Here scroll down to the bottom, here should be a Open Anyways button, but if not try start the game and see if it appear

No, this thread is about a Mac-only issue.

This is no longer a solution. I have followed everything in this thread, and my Intel Mac running Ventura won't run Prison Architect. I am using the GOG version.

EDIT: My solution... right click on the Prison Architect.app, Show Package Contents, click on Contents, click on MacOS, copy the libpops_api.dylib file, paste it in /usr/local/lib which is one of the error paths in the MacOS error message. Game will launch now. I don't think your average user would be able to figure this out... what are the chances this will get fixed? I think the game is EOL now, no?
