Really disappointed with this. Updated via steam. Froze on loading sounds. Updated drivers, reinstalled game and now freezes on database or map logic. Can i just play this game with out 1.4 and go back to 1.3 when this game actually worked?

Edit: having gone through some known problems i think it freezes everytime the music finishes.. Any fixes for this problems?

I'm afraid Steam do not provide a way of uninstalling patches, no.

Please post your dxdiag.txt, settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

Thanks Pdox but..

Unfortunately the patch beta hasnt fixed my problem, it still freezes every time the music finishes when loading. I will give my dxdiag once i pick the computer off the floor and wash away the dents. I do trust that you guys are working on this issue and will hope to have it resolved soon. Until then i shall wait patiently.

Edit: while i wait could you provide a link and a .Rar file for the 1.3 patch so i can continue playing this greatly enjoyable and far too addictive game?

I checked the demo setup log to see if the check sum for that was there to see if i had been looking in the right place for the real games setup log and it was, so based on sherlock like deduction, looks like the checksum never got generated by the time it crashed. again no error message though. just have to close down CK2 and wait ages for it to close before retrying tweaking a different line in the settings or something..

A fresh reinstall has got me to at least the music looping correctly and continuing to load without freezing but looks like it crashes if you leave it along for longer than a minute or two. At work at present but will reinstall the beta patch again and see if my nightmare is over.

I'd like you to try turning off your sound completely. While CKII is NOT running, open your settings.txt file (My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\settings.txt) and change the master volume line to this

master_volume=0

Save the file and restart CKII.

Actualy never when I play activly.

To me it happens when I pause and leave the game for RL matters, or at the "start up screen" (where you choose scenario) if left alone for a while.

With EU3 you actually had to set the master_volume=-1 (minus one) to disable sound entirely, and 0 was just no volume; can you try that instead of 0 please?

It does not work like that in CKII, but you can try disabling your sound device completely in Windows and see if that works.

Yes, apply the new patch (1.04c) which is just out today. If you use Steam, it should be applied automatically.
