Hi,

I've had this issue twice now where the game has crashed / frozen and my mouse and keyboard inputs have stopped working.

The first time, I got a solid green screen and had no choice but to power off the PC. The second time, the game seemed to freeze, but the music was still playing. I couldn't alt -tab or ctrl-alt-delete as my mouse and keyboard would not work.

I've checked all my drivers and they are up to date.

Windows Event Viewer had quite a few volmgr warnings at the time of the crash (followed by the kernel-power error when I forced shut down). The warnings are like this: "Failed to read KSR data - disk 2 sector 573 operation 0 status c0000225". Those are the only warnings though.

I thought it could be the SSD where the game is installed (D: drive), so I downloaded HD Sentinel and ran a few checks... all my drives are at > 95% health. The only thing I could see wrong is that the M.2 SSD where the game is installed was running a bit hot, so I moved it to a spot in front of a fan and now it's cooler. That did not fix the problem.

I checked the Stellaris error logs, and there is a few errors in there, but they happened about 30 mins before the crash. I don't think they would be related to it, but I've attached the log file anyway.

I'm really not sure what else to try. I've seen a few threads in Google search with people having the same problem, the only thing I have left to check if running the game in a different version of DirectX to see if it's that.

Right click on stellaris4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate to refresh rate 60.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , exceptions.log

Thank you, I'll try that and if it happens again I'll come back and attach the files you asked for :)
