I started a new game as the Count of Altmark with the 1.04 patch (have checksum MLDO). I get to the 12th century and it freezes pretty consistently around 1118 or 1119. From error.log, I get the following:

EDIT: It's the Gamersgate version, if that helps.

Assuming this is new with the 1.04 patch, please supply a dxdiag.txt from your system. Everything from the top of the file down to include the "Sound Devices" section only, thank you.

This is with each game, not just in one particular saved game? You may have an overheating problem. Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU) 1/ before starting the game up and 2/ after say 20 minutes' play. If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, Google for and install SPEEDFAN.
 
I've only played the one saved game since I got 1.04b, but no other game I own is having problems, including Mass Effect 3, which I believe has much higher requirements, or any of my other PI games. I've added a link here to my saved game, in case that could be useful to you.

I played for maybe 30 seconds before it crashed this most recent time.

CPU temp before game start and after the crash are identical; -128 C
GPU temp before game start - 39C; after crash - 42C.

I'm going to start a new game with the same character and see if there's any further issues.
