There is no general problem running the game under Vista. If you could tell us what your exact problem is, we may be able to be of some help.

Vista

Game launcher freezes at point where it says "Map properly initiallized". Also, tired to download Vae Victus from Gamersgate via firefox & that download doesnt work either. Game is currently patched to 1.3. Thanks for any help.

Problems

I got the same problem using Win7 RC1 64Bit.
On the first startup the gmae starts fine, after setting the resolution to 1920 x 1200 the game freezes at: "Map Properly Initalized".

Are there any suggestions apart from "not raising the resolution"?

Regards,
Matthias

PS: Same thing happens with EU3 + Addons

Edit: After setting the refresh rate manually (in the settings file) to 60Hz instead of 59Hz, Rome started correctly in 1900x1200 ... it still crashes on Quitting though.

mios: please start your own fresh thread, as you have a different problem and a different OS.

legatus123: Please run DXDIAG, Save All Info, and post dxdiag.txt here (first delete everything after the Sound Devices section so it will fit). Also post your Rome/settings.txt and Rome/logs/system.log files. Note that if you use Vista and have installed the game in the suggested folder c:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\, the active versions of these last two files will have been redirected by Vista to a non-system directory, like c:\users\[name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Rome\. You may have to search your C: drive for them.
