Game Saving/Loading problems ; Update Problems Also

Okay I have EU version 1.7...I am trying to update to 1.10 but when I run the Setup File I get a messsage that says that EU is not installed on the computer and then the whole Setup program aborts...

The reason I want to update is because whenever I save a game then EXIT EU and get back into it again (AT A LATER TIME) the game does not load. i can leave it there for like 25 min and it does not work and would stay on the status "Reading Scenorio". Sometimes I get a message saying ERRRO in the Microsoft C++ library or something...

Please HELP, because the game is gettting pretty boring when I am playing for like 3 hours then have to start over again. EVEN the AUTOSAVE does not load...

I know its not my system becayse i have a 1.3 GHZ Pentuim 4 Processor, 128 MB RAM, and Windows XP...though I tried the game on my older 733 MHZ Pentuim 3 Processor, 128 RAM, and Windows 98 system and still same results...

I have the North American English, Stargedy First Published Verion and tried all the patches, even the ones in different languages...still no effect

PLEASE HELP...any help to fix either or both problems would be higly appreciated...

plz visit the sticky in this forum about trouble shooting the game. also

Window XP was released recently. many programms produced earlier do not support that operating system. some work on it but others don't just keep that possibility in mind.


also have you tried the 1.09 patch instead?

disabling autosave will work in some cases so does playing the game with no sound.

disable any themes, background and any programms running in the background ( ctrl+alt+del on a win98 system end task all programms exceppt for explorer and systray)

I have gone through all steps given in answers regarding Typer85's problem with loading previous saved games. I still have the same problem. The only thing i havn't done is to: 1. apply the latest patch for my version (i have no idea what version that is, i only know it's the swedish version) and 2. Kill all other apps. (i left "ssrlite" 'coz without it only got worse - the meny wouldn't go away!). So, the problem is that i can't load saved games. It stops when "reading senario", and i have to press ctrl-alt-del. Some (rare) times though i somehow gets around it through starting a new game without the CD and loading the old game from the new one. There has never been a problem with starting new campaigns. Please please HELP!

My prestanda is at minimum level. AMD K6-2 350mhz, 64 mb ram, Win 98.

Problems installing 1.04 on WINXP on EUII

It is no comfort to you, but I get the exact same message when trying to install the 1.04 Scandinavian release. Otherwise my PC works fine, so i might be a compability problem between some patches and XP. No problem playing the 1.0 version, only some screen flashing from time to time.
