Hey Kingmaker, sorry for only getting around to this now. Typically this indicates that changes to the settings file aren't being saved. What is the location of your Settings File (we cover the possible locations in the Troubleshooting Guide) and does Steam have Save/Write permissions for that folder?

Hi Kingmaker, that's why I referred to Troubleshooting Guide. These are all the locations you can find your data in:
o Where to locate files
  • Game logs: \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4\Logs
  • Launcher Logs: %localAppData%\Paradox Interactive\launcher-v2\logs
  • Steam Saves: Steam\userdata\NUMBERS\1669000\remote\Save
  • Epic & GoG Saves: \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4\Storage
- If you do not have Logs or Config Folder in your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4 and you do not use OneDrive or a Cloud solution you might find your files in:
  • %AppData%\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4
  • %LocalAppData%\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4
Most likely your files are either in a server location like OneDrive/Google Drive or in one of the AppData's.
 
You're in the launcher folders and not the AoW4 Folder. The launcher has nothing to do with the game settings, in your AoW4 folder there's a config folder with all the related config files.

This is a Read/Write Access problem that exists locally. You being the owner of the Device doesn't mean that when you install Steam or the Game it also has admin rights. If it's not run/installed as a Admin it won't automatically run as an admin.
