I am running HOI II on a IBM laptop. I am running Windows 2003 and I do not play online but the laptop is updated every week. I have update 1.3A installed. this has happened several times. during play the game just shuts down. I will be playing and then all of a sudden a black screen and the computer freezes for about 4-6 minutes. When the desktop comes I get a message to the extent of "HOI II had to close..............." but it doesn't give me any particular reasons. It has happened at different times during different games.

Lets try Castellon's standard advice:

Castellon said:
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

Edit: If this not working run dxdiag: Start-->Run, type dxdiag. Run all the tests and save. Post the test result in this thread.

Good luck

Windows 2003? On a laptop?

If this is in fact the operating system you are using, then please switch to Windows XP. Windows 2003 is intended for servers, and does not support game play and directX to the same level as Windows XP does.
