I'm playing easy and the main campaign. The year is 1955 and I still have to defeat france and russia.

Yeah yeah I know I shouldn't play easy, but I wanted to try to build the biggest army possible.

But the problem is this; I now have almost 1900 land divisions, 130 air squadrons and 450 ships. France has almost 500 land divisions, russia has over 1300 infantry divisions.

So I thought; why not do the war now. Everything works out smoothly as aspected of the easy mode.

But my problem is this; the game can't handle it. Every 3 or 4 hours it stops for a few seconds before it continues again. Not a particularly big problem, but I fear what will happen after I declare war on russia. 3/4 of my army is facing them and I fear that it might be too much for the game.

Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem?

Btw; I have 4 gig ram, decent video and sounds cards and a double core 2000+ processor. I also have over 100 gig of free space on my drive, so I don't think that should cause trouble.

So is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

You use counters instead, it make it faster.

What version are you playing? If it's v1.2 Armageddon, Ghost fleets should be no problem.

If one were already using counters, wouldn't it make no difference whether or not the sprites are still present in one of the gfx folders?

It increases load times very noticeably.

I can't remember reading it speeding up gameplay though, emu?

I'm experiencing some serious slow-downs lately, so I figured I'd try and revive this thread.

It was mentioned earlier that the ghost fleet issue was solved in Arma 1.2. This isn't entirely the case, since that's what I'm playing, and I've seen ghost fleets popping up in Italian ports. It's strange that this would happen exclusively in Italy, since that isn't the only country with a coastline I was militarily controlling. I've since relinquished control, and that's when I noticed slow-downs. I don't know if they are caused by ghost fleets, but just assuming that they are, could you tell me how to get rid of said fleets? I've already tried the supposed "ghost fleet remover" linked to in the wiki, but all it did was corrupt my save file (the game still loaded, but I had an exorbitant [read: broken] amount of IC after the "fix").
