In an interview with PirateAhoy Kim Soares meant, that there will be several campaigns. The Grand Campaign will span 200 years. So my question is:

- How long will one year last in game time at "normal" speed ?
- Will there be the possibility to change game speed ?
- Will there be the possibility to pause the game during battles to issue orders ?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

lets all hope it won't take us 200 years to complete a game.

THAT would be RTS ! Unfortunately I have no children so my nephew would have to continue the game :)

On the other hand it wouldn`t be that time-consuming since one had to check on the game only once in a month. Guess we should ask the devs to make a game version for hardcore players :D

Not making game time 1:1 to real time was one of the abstractions we decided to make :)

1 year game time takes, as a default, about 5 minutes of real time. Fast ships can make it to India and back in little over than a year.

We have time multipliers of .5, 2 and 4.

BTW, the fleet commanders do not live forever. If they do not get killed in combat or die of illness, they retire at about the age of 60. It can be a big loss to see highly experienced commander leave, but we did not want to have fleet commanders sailing around for 200 years :)

Thanks to Kim Soares for the reply. And this

is something I like already. Good idea.
