Game stops at "initializing sound" in loading

Hi!

I have this problem where the game just stops loading at the "initializing sound" phase of the start-up. It just happens on my laptop and I really want the game to work here as well. I have bought the game on steam and my laptop is a lenovo thinkpad edge E 520.

I have a hardcopy of Hearts of Iron II as well and the game works well from the hardcopy-version, but I want to play AoD and not HoI II. I once dowloaded a pirate version of HoI II because I couldn't find the CD (ended up buying another hardcopy...) and that version also stopped at the "initializing sound" stage.

I've tried googling the problem but I really can't find a solution.

Can anyone help?

I have tried updating everything possible on the laptop. HoI II hardcopy only works if I don't patch it up to 1.3, it comes as 1.2 version when I do a fresh instal.

I assume a Sound/MP3 codec problem. Please try to rename the music folder in your AoD installation folder to musicx and try to start again.
