I was wondering if anyone can help me out here. I'm playing the original Grand Campaign as the English with version 1.8. I saved my game and now my map is permanttly stuck on the politcal map for hannover. I exit out and restarted and I it is still there. Is there any way i can fix this.
Thanks

My game has crashed back to the desktop and gotten stuck before. All you can really do is make sure that you have enough of your RAM available for the game. Right click on your desktop and close out all of your other applications before starting a game. That is what I do. And I have yet to run into a problem when I make sure that I do that. Your GC might be lost though. You might have to start over. Unless someone here has some great ideas.

It happens to me once (can't load the same game). I happened to me because it hanged last time I was saving it. The only think I can do is to go back to prior saved game (a few years earlier) and continue again.
I also think that memory is the main problem. I, now, load the game after closing every other memory resident programs. Now it doesn't hang anymore.
Just make sure you save it often... ( or put it in auto save )...

I've also had savegames start with the poloitcal map on, however for me just changing to the Noraml map fixes it. If this doesn't work for you report it as a bug to Paradox (check my FAQ under misc for how to a good bugreport)
