Game won't let me proceed past the first screen.

Everytime I load up the game, and get to the main menu, there are occasional flashes of an alternate screen to the one I'm viewing, and this seems to crash the game for a little bit, but the game then comes back for a few seconds until the same happens again.

If this to do with my computer? Or is it a dodgy install, and I better re-install? I downloaded it from GamersGate if that means anything.

Have yo applied the 1.1 patch yet? If so, have you tried everything in the CRASH sticky thread, above?

If so can we see your settings.txt and system.log files please. Also run DXDIAG, save all info, and post the first section of that file please.
