Game won't run with Darkest Hour

I can get to the screen where I can choose which scenario to play. My choices are 1933 (though the icon for it is a completely different style than the others), 1939, The Abyss and Armageddon. When I try to start any of them, the process freezes. If I Alt-Tab and come back to the screen, it has an error message, "Couldn't open file: scenarios/1934/vp_34.inc"

Along the way, I get a cheksum of LCYG, which I don't think is correct.

The procedure I followed was:

install v1.02 of Darkest Hour
install v1.02 of Iron Cross in Darkest Hour folder

I have tried installing the DH 1.02 patch over DH before installing IC; I have tried installing v1.01 of IC before v.102; and I have tried all of the various permutations of them.

I am having similar problems trying to get Iron Cross to work with Arsenal of Democracy. Given the plethora of different patches and versions of every component, it would be nice if there were a clearly marked, step-by-step explanation of just what steps to take to install. I'm having a lot of trouble finding such a beast.

unfortunately, the chances of you actually finding instructions on how to do what you want is gonna be difficult at best.


I mean, who the hell ever writes clear instructions for anything anymore....

ANd this BS with a "clean install" is also a bunch of crap!!!!

f anyone really thinks i'm gonna uninstall the mods for the DH just so i can reinstall this game.. you all better wake the hell up and get some organization finally to these games and start WRITING CLEAR INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS!!!

I had the same problem.

I already had iron cross loaded over aod, but thought hey why not load darkest hour then load IC over that as well.

It didnt work so I removed AOD and IC , removed the left over directories, installed darkest hour to 1.02 then installed IC over the top, and patched that to 1.02 and hey presto it all worked.

Might not be whats causing your problem, but I hope it helps
