I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher): HOI2 Doomsday and Armageddon, downloaded from GamersGate (I don't know the specific version) and just finished getting patch 1.3 for doomsday and 1.2 for Armageddon.

OS & build/SP: I am running on Windows XP home edition, 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 build 2600

Computer, CPU & speed: emachine? I don't know what you want. I looked at the example and it was confusing, too.

RAM: 1.0 GB

Free HDD space: Um? Again I don't really know.

Video (brand, model, driver, memory): Sorry, I really am not good with computers.

Sound (brand, model, driver):

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

Other:

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem:

Last night I downloaded Doomsday using Gamersgate, and the game worked, I got it going and everything, no problem.

Today after school I immediately downloaded Armageddon and the newest patches I saw. Now when I try to start the game I get this, before it even loads, no beginning movie, nothing.

When I press ignore I just get a beep and the error message doesn't go away.

When I press retry it disappears and I get:

When I press abort I get:

I would really like any help that you all can give me. I've played the game before and would love to play it again instead of only the occasional time at a friends house. Thank you again.

That kind of helps, but in both of those they were able to start the game. Mine won't even get to a loading screen or anything. After clicking the shortcut to start it I immediately get the error screen.

I guess I'm just going to uninstall and reinstall, but my question is if I uninstall the game, since I do not have a disc, will I have to pay again in order to get the game?

I suspect you either applied the wrong arma 1.2 patch (you are ok if you got the patch from GG), or you installed arma and patch to the wrong place - it should go to same directory that you installed DD to, if you got it from GG.

Once you get DD reinstalled I suggest you make a back-up. It is small enough to copy to a 2g usb flash stick, or copy it to a DVD. This might come in handy for you since you don't have an install disk.
