I found a gamey way to save time with fleet battles. If you wish to flee a battle from AI, save the game as the battle screen loads, then load the game. It resumes at that same month in the game and you still have all your fleets, as if the battle never occurred. A way to save time versus going to battle retreating, and waiting to get back to strategic view.:D
