Looking to play as Nationalist Spain, would it be considered gamey to play as the republicans until civil war and set my research and production ques based on what i want to do as the nationalists after civil war breaks out? Generally i always play as a different nation until civil war, but I could definately get further ahead by playing as the republicans. Thoughts?
 
I wouldn't call it gamey. You are playing the same country after all. Besides, as Spain, you could use the small early-game boost you get. However, remember that there is a chance new troops you build go to the Republicans!
 
Well seing as its only 6 months worth its not going to be much different.

I play mod 34 with the 33 scenario and pump out a heap of industry, slightly more gamey than what your doing, but its not like spain is going ot be a superpower because of it.
 
Actually, those first 6.5 months make a noticeable difference. I can move toward central planning in Jan AND July giving me a 20% bonus instead of a 15% bonus through my first year. I can finish 2 industry in Jan which is 6.5 months earlier than I would otherwise. I can now research and complete lvl 4carriers for the break out of war (I always build atleast 4 lvl 3 carriers as well as destroyer screen to aid my operations until france falls. Just by starting the game as the republicans, I can complete 4 -5 more factories before the outbreak of way, effectively giving me another run of infantry with some left over. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a 10% boost to spains economy by sept 39'.
 
I still don't think what you're doing is gamey anyways. After all, I'm sure the republicans would have been able to use the stuff you're building if they won. If you want to be completely historical, defer the slider move, or if you're especially role-playing, move the sliders as you would for a weak socialist nation.
