Summary

Garbage/Recycle trucks do not pick up from certain buildings.

Steps to reproduce

After economy 2.0, in my save, I put down any school, water supply building, hospital related building, crematorium, police, my cargo port, power buildings, and random specialty buildings and the trucks to pick up the trash will drive right on by.

Expected Result

Hopefully something can be fixed to trigger these trucks to pick up trash from the buildings listed above.

Actual Result

Trucks skip over these buildings and trash builds up affecting it's efficiency. Power is reduced, water is the same, not enough healthcare because efficiency is down, same with all the other buildings listed lowering its use or what it offers the city. It affects a lot.

Game Version

1.1.5f1 (477.28073) [5492.20178]

Affected Feature

  • Gameplay

Platform

  • Steam

Additional Information

Additional Information

They will RARELY stop to pick it up, even just a little bit leaving it still over flowing and it will not visit it again for a very very long time. but it's random to which building they do this, some more than others. Others just state in the overflowing state forever. I have tried moving the buildings, shutting them off and on, redoing the roads, placing more recycle/trash buildings, restarting the game, changing the budget of trash but nothing seems to want them to pick it up. Even when the affected building is on the main road that leads to a pickup building, the truck drives by.

I had a look at your save and it appears to be a case of not enough garbage trucks to pick up all the waste in your city. Your Recycling Centers are sending out all their trucks while the Landfill is limited by its storage capacity - it won't send out trucks if it doesn't have space to store what they return with. To solve your garbage issues, you will either need to increase the Landfill's storage capacity and/or add more garbage facilities.

I also looked at the wallinford savegame, there are 114 garbage trucks collecting, the whole town is full of garbage trucks, most of them are still not 100% full, almost all the buildings are garbage collected, except the service buildings that have their own street and therefore cannot empty the rubbish on the way. In addition, the processing capacity is almost double what the city is asking for.
I see it clearly, it's not a problem of capacity, trucks or processing, if not that the trucks ignore the service buildings that are not on their route.
Actually the same thing happens to me with my savegame with the solar plant, no garbage truck has come for months while the rest of the city is flawless and the processing capacity is sufficient. I am attaching the savegame.

I've noticed since this game was first released that water treatment plants and power plants are CONSTANTLY being neglected for trash pickup--even with plenty of trash collection buildings, they get overloaded with trash, stop working, and it takes forever for a garbage truck to arrive. I have to have twice the sewage treatment facilities I actually need because of this.

Yeah, I'm still having issues with garbage piling up in my new save on certain buildings. Even back then when I was told I didn't have enough trash trucks, I placed down a ton of buildings providing hundreds of trash trucks and they just sat there not collecting what was overflowing on certain buildings. It's for sure a bug of some kind, not just having a lack of trucks to pick up.

Is that daggone city policy! Everything was fine until I turned on the one that makes the industry zone use filters to cleanup pollution. It says it makes them produce more garbage. I have 2 incenerators, 1 recycling center and FOUR landfills! Surely that is enough to hold whatever they're producing. Nope! The trucks just drive right past. For me it's an oil mine and a wheat field constantly backed up. I even dedicated one landfill to that district, but what do they do? Keep sending dump trucks to the next landfill to take some of THEIR garbage away.
