Does anyone use garrisons now ?
Militia are much cheaper to build and give more suppression.
And how can I build mp brigades ?

I still use garrisons to defend beaches and islands, I usally add an artillery or AA brigade to them. I don't use garrisons as security troops for that I use infantry with an MP brigade attached, and the infantry division is not an upgraded one, but an older one that I don't ever upgrade. I like to play as Italy and most of my infantry units that I use for security in Yugoslavia, Greece etc. are level I and II's.

I will first use them as guarders in the french border while I'm beating Poland. I hope they can hold out.

I asked this same question weeks ago maybe a month and after play testing I am finding Militia to be more cost effective for anti partisan but I use the garrisons for invasion beaches with Artillery or Inf Regiment and sometimes put garrisons in major capitals of conquered nations to make sure my industry and resources are not hindered.

As a side note playing Germany up to 1948, in Yugoslavia I had this event of increased revolt risk happen like 20 times from 1945 to 1948 in 3 provinces in Yugoslavia. I put Militia with MP brigades and leaders that had no special traits or ones that are not used most and let them constantly gain experience and new traits like Hills Fighter. Did that for 3 years till I got some really good experienced level 5 or 6 leaders and then rotate new ones in place of those, so I had a pool of good alternate leaders at my disposal.

Ah yeah and by the way the growing of XP is too fast along with the frequency you earn traits. (AoD 1.05+IC rev2)

LOL. It also helps to set the Idealogy to gain experience as well. I am on the fence with this though. In all previous HoI games gaining experience took forever if not at all, but if a country is constantly at war fighting somewhere I see experience to gain rapidly being the norm here. So I am divided though I will say having all 12 traits on Rommel is awesome to lead an attack on the USA! :)

I will take back my example as Japan (latest longest game). After Australia, New Zealand, Dutch Indies campaign, Yamashita field Marshall skill 6 and as you mentioned with all possible terrain traits or events related you can get around there... For me it is too fast and too much, like it was in mod 33 (even though I know mod 34 and 33 are not much related). Now I play a USSR game on regular AoD and after the whole Europe campaign, ah yeah I have experience (well deserved eheh) and a few traits but nothing compared to fight a few Australian garrisons...
I tend to do not much appreciate this kind of set-up. You launch your first war and you get a huge amount of windows regarding earned traits, somehow reduce their values I think. You cannot say anymore: "Oh yes, I have one desert fox, I will assign to Africa!", now you say "I have one desert fox, let's not assign him to Africa, so that others will get the traits."

I agree....it devaluates strenght of both exp and traits...unit can get 100 exp in just a few weeks...so there is no big difference between veterans and unit that was built month ago...most of my field marshalls got all terrain traits..3 of them cant get any new trait cuz they already reached maximum...would be nice to fix this in x-mas patch.

Dont need to wait for a patch - just change the values in misc.txt. I agree the gain is too fast - I've had a German skill 2 MG commanding a garrison unit on the Channel go to lvl.7 within a few weeks ... very useful but not I think realistic!

I modded the misc.txt file and will test it out with Japan as soon as I decide to invade China. I took the dissent hit and will wait an extra year to invade China probing every month for possible land invasion spots to hit, though I have noticed on 2 instances my game has crashed when I send bombers from Dalian to do Interdiction in Shanxi area. It is the only time I have experienced a CTD and the error from Microsoft states memory leak on one and the other critical error with AoD.exe. So dont know if I can get past this issue but will try and tone down the experience for all forces in the misc.txt file. Cheers!

Germany needs some modding. In my game they only had 1 garrison on each beach. Meanwhile hundreds in africa/asia, it was really easy for USA to do a DDay.
