Hello,

yesterday I wanted to get back into a game I started last saturday (un-modded, latest patch, all DLCs). Firing up GeForce Now as per usual in the game's load game menu theres a little disk with a red exclamation mark saying "Missing DLCs: Anniversaries/Aquatics/Necroid" right next to the green cloud icon. Back in Steam (still on GeForce Now) under the downloads tab it says "missing file privileges". Repairing or re-downloading is not possible.

Loading it up on my local machine (Mac) through steam theres no such problem.

Any idea/help/suggestion?

Thanks in advance! :)

EDIT: Update with WORKAROUND in the comments!

If this were on Windows I'd suspect an antivirus app getting in the way, but even then why would that only affect playing via GFN?

I can only guess this is a GFW issue. Have you contacted them?

I wanted to share that I'm currently experiencing the same issue with Imperator: Rome, along with other Paradox players on Reddit. I raised this issue of failed DLC downloads with Nvidia support, as it seems to me like an error with their Virtual Machines. My ticket received this response:

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. I have filed a report with our QA team so they can investigate the DLC loading issue further. If more details are needed I will contact you.

Hopefully this will lead to some sort of fix soon, as Paradox games are essentially unplayable on GFN.

Yes, I agree... its strange. I did contact Nvidia/GFN-support and they are at it but couldnt quite put their finger on it so far.

I wouldnt necessarily say its (only) Nvidias/GFNs problem just yet - it very much reminds me of a (albeit much lighter version) of what happened last year.

As far as I can tell from my own tests (I own most PDX games and got a 3080 Tier GFN subscription) Stellaris, HOI, I:R and CK III are all somewhat affected. People on Reddit seem to agree/have similar issues:

Cheers!

Small update:

GFN tech support told me that they are now aware of the issue and the devs are currently on it (Im pretty sure that PDX have already been contacted too).

A reddit-user found a neat workaround which I tested for Stellaris, CKIII and I:R which worked in 100% of my tries:
  • Open Stellaris/CKIII/IE through GFN
  • Close the Paradox Launcher
  • In the Steam Client click: Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Steam Library Folder
  • Click the "..." on the right side -> Repair Folder
  • Close the Settings windows -> Click Downloads at the bottom of the Steam Client -> You should now be able to restart the download without receiving the error
  • Start your game through Steam (while still in GFN of course)
  • Enjoy
Probs to Reddit-user Ryika for working this out and sharing it!!

I believe I also found another workaround but I only tried it with stellaris
Open GFN
Close Paradox Launcher
In Steam client -> Settings -> Downloads
Click allow downloads while the game is running
Close GFN
Reopen GFN and close the Paradox Launcher
Allow stellaris to finish downloading dlcs
Open stellaris through steam while GFN is on
Conquer the galaxy

I am having this problem while trying to play Battlefield 1 in Geforce NOW Turkey. A lot of people besides me have this problem. I reported the problem to support, no response.

That is not a Paradox game so we cannot help you here, sorry. Contact the developer or publisher of that game.
