OK I am playing with UK my first DD HSR game. I like to build a lot of STR bombers so I start a serial build of 9 from 1937ish and compliment with fighters wherever I can (also devoting some IC to building factorys), this leaves me with very little IC and I can just about afford to build a bunch of lv4 DDs and CLs and 2 BB4s and 2 CV4s all staggered so that I am at least pumping some IC into them. I sell off all lv1 capital ships as Britain, and then sell off as many lv1/2/3 DD/CL as the navy can afford to loose (keeping 1:1 cap:screen). I started ww2 with about 110 naval units.

It is now Apr '40 and war has obviously broken out. The German KM is tearing making life difficult for the Royal Navy, so far the KM has built 7 lv4 BBs, 4lv4 BCs and 2 lv4 CVs. I am still waiting for my 2 lv4 CVs to be built meanwhile I have had to leave a single carrier in Hongkong, 2 in the med and 3 in the atlantic where I have lost one but managed to sink the 2 german carriers. Origionally the KM had 3BBs which I sunk but they now have 4 BBs with associated BCs and lv screens. They completely outclass the Royal Navy which only has 2 lv4 BBs.

I find this highly unrealistic as Britain as a super power depended on naval supremacy. Britain would not have tolerated Germany building what is effectively 11 fighting ships of the line and would have declared war and destroyed all german naval constuction capabilities long before Germany reached 3 main battleships let alone 11 of the buggers.

Perhaps you chaps should code an event where Britain would declare war on Germany for building a large navy ?

Are you serious about that?
The Z plan had 12 Battleship in mind and it was started around 1937
only 2 where build and the 10 others not cause of the War....so ?
Why make an event for something UK didnt done?

Britain would have complained, but declare war? No, that would make them the aggressor and negate most allied (and certainly American) support for the UK. Plus they were in no way ready for war, not even when it actually broke out. Perhaps such an event could exist, but it should include serious reprecussions for England, such as a significant dissent hit, breaking with the Allied alliance, severely reduced relations with Allied nations and a particular hit to relations with the USA, and maybe even orienting many non-aligned nations toward the Axis.

If you want a more realistic experience, don't devote most of your industry to strategic bombing. As the UK I usually build at least one carrier fleet from scratch and fill out a couple battleship fleets using some new builds and many older ships. If Germany has outdone you navally then either they have focused on their fleet at the extreme detriment of the other arms of the German military, and will consequently pose little threat to you in the long run, or you have let them surpass you by neglecting your naval programme.

They also had enough IC to build 19 armour by the begining of '40

I liked how you ignored his post agains't your argument, love those kinds of people.

Anyway, what is the difficulty your playing on, as well did you also choose the appropriate difficulty choice ingame event as well?

I ignored the first part of the post because Britain DID declare war on Nazi Germany, thus making Britain the aggressor in real life ... Britain also prided herself on the Royal Navy and thus would not have allowed another nation, particularly Nazi Germany to develop a comparable navy ... which is why Germany didn't.

thats one way of putting it. historically they declared war(together with france and the other allies) because of the german invasion of poland and the guarantees the allies gave poland so basically GB was not the Aggresor here.
