damn it, I can't get my Victoria version to work. I bought the German edition from Koch media (via Amazon), installed the English language version, applied the 1.03 patch - all fine so far, music plays, front screen looks nice - and then it ALWAYS crashes when I select a country and hit "Start". I tried Sweden, Prussia and Belgium, in the 1836 and 1861 scenarios. Since it takes about three fucking minutes for the game to load just the front screen, I'm a little out of patience and I'm not going to try every god-damned country in every god-damned scenario.

What the hell is wrong with the game???
I am playing (well, trying) on a Windows XP machine, Athlon 1600, 256MB RAM, 1024x768, GForce 4 card

Although the binkplayer is the best shot iMHO

It is not the intro playing necessarily that the Bink player solves. ;)
Renameing the AVI folder can solve all kinds of problems.

w00t! It works! Thanks for the tip - I renamed the AVI folder and suddenly it all worked 100%! Now Belgium will be led to glory... as soon as I find out how :D

Anyways, thanks to all for the quick replies.
