This is my first AAR. I'm playing Germany but I hope to play differently enough to keep people's interest. I'm playing the 36 GC and am currently up to 25th April 1938. Now the ahistorical fun can begin!
German newsreel 25/04/1938:
"Following the joyful Anschluss one month ago today in which millions of Germans were reunited into the glorious Reich, there can be little to stop the glorious and inevitable onward march of Germany. Yet the corpulent and pig-headed Benito Mussolini, who, aided by the decadent forces of the West, succeeded in preventing Anschluss four years ago is not content with the new Germanic order! This pitiful man is finally making good his threat to make the Brenner pass bristle with bayonets. Germany shall not stand for this behaviour. A harsh ultimatum was yesterday delivered to Rome. The Fuhrer shall have his revenge for his birthday being ruined by the posturings of Italy, so far decayed from its glorious Roman predecessor.
In unrelated news, the Hochseeflotte yesterday put to sea, headed for ports unknown. Cheering townsfolk lined the quays of Wilhelmshafen as Grand Admiral Raeder's command sailed. The shackles of Versailles are being broken by the might of two mighty new battleships, more than a match for any British vessel. The Bismarck and her sister the Tirpitz will prove more than a match for whomsoever is unfortunate enough to be their first foe. Sailing in escort were four heavy cruisers, five light cruisers and a huge host of destroyers. This force, mighty already, will be bolstered by a pair of aircraft carriers by the end of the year. Growing apace to further protect the interests of the Reich is the submarine arm, now fully fitted with the latest Type IX models.
HEIL HITLER! "
