Germany stuck in limbo

having finally gotten Doomsday and Armageddon I started a game as my(so far) favorite country: Italy(mainly because I like kicking weak Balkan countries in the nuts) in this game I am expanding in the Balkans towards Turkey so I am ready to play with the soviets in the Caucasus when I eventually join the Axis.

My main problem is that after Germany allied with Czechoslovakia instead of annexing them, and annexing Austria and Poland they just sit there. It is the year 1942 and nothing has really happened in the world since Poland got divided between the Soviets and Germans. Is this normal in the expansions or have I just been unlucky in what decisions the AI chose?

You've been unlucky. There's always a chance that ai makes decisions that make the war not happen properly, but most of the time it follows the usual route.

But you could always stir things up yourself.

Thank you for the reply. I think I will restart the game and join the Axis earlier. Having just read half of Blue Emus submarine thread I am getting tempted to try that as Italy.

I had this in my Romania game (yes, kicking Balkans is fun In that game Republican Spain joined the allies and there seemed to be a huge stand of with 40 divisions of Germans and nearly as many Republican Spanish troops sitting in Bilbao. I can only guess that this somehow stopped the Germans from launching Barbarossa in my game anyway, could be the same with yours ?
