Germany unites without a defeated Austria?

The devs really need to look at this. Joint leadership of Germany with Prussia. No war with Prussia. It's impossible for Prussia to unite Germany with Austria not humbled. That simple.

Gah! Now it's war with Germany!

Oh well, I need to get Silesia back any way. (Still, I hope they address this.)

There are two events that can unify germany before the three hurrahs. It happens after the liberal revolution of 1848 and it can happen if

1) Every german country is a monarchy.
2) Every german country is anything but a monarchy.

Sounds to me like you got one of these.

None of the Prussia -> Germany events seem to have any requirement regarding Austria except that Conservative Empire requires Prussia to have a stronger army and more prestige. Is that the problem, that you think there should be such a requirement?

Certainly. And infact, conservative empire should be an event for Austria, NOT Prussia.

Any event involving Austria forming "Germany" should result in freedom for all the non-German nations of the Habsburg Empire. Other than that, I have no problem with Austria forming Germany via Conservative Empire.

I suspect I did...as every German nation was a monarchy, but, it's 5 wars later, and Germany has been reduced to a shell of itself. A few colonies, which I will strip from them in four years. They still have the Rhineland industries, but, that won't last. I imagine by 1915 I'll have a fair amount of that too.
