I've upgraded to a Geforce 7950 GX2 recently with the latest nvidia drivers (91.31) and i've come to a little problem.

Every time i try to play a paradox game i just get a black screen. Still get music and sound effects, and crtl-alt-del works. But no gamey goodness.

Any ideas.

Note: i haven't posted the rest of my system because everything else is the same and DD worked great before.

I sometimes have it that the Bink Video player that's playing the Intro isn't running in the foreground (sound etc. is tho) ... I need to go to the Task Manager and manually switch to the Bink application ... but that might not be your particulat problem ...

I'd like an answer to that question too, I already have the money set aside for a similar card ... would suck if I could if could shoot at stuff but not invade countries ...

The Bink player problem can effect the game anytime.
The problem with it has nothing to do with the intro videos.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Run a Virus check and a Adware/Spybot checker
6) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-4.

1) doomsday patch 1.1
2) done
3) done
4) standard anyway
5) done every week as standard
6) ditto but every fortnight or so.

i'll be back in a sec to give results

edit: working now.
