I haven’t seen anything in the official release material yet (though I admit I might have missed something) about different forms of government.

Even more than EU4, there’s a wide variety of government types, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, especially with aliens in the mix.

So in addition to the usual ‘federation’ which is democratic I hope we see at least some variations of:

· Absolute Monarchy

· Republican Dictatorship

· Tribal/Clan Empire

· Constitutional Monarchy

· Theocracy

As far as EU4 comparisons go.

However, I’d also like to see some more exotic ones like:

· Hive mind

· Machine consensus

· Mageocracy (if psychic powers are around)

· Alliance of multiple races

And so on. Any others you’re hoping for?

Why should Federations be democratic? It could just be a Form of State and not a form of Government and maybe you can have an oligarchic federation where only the elites vote or something like the Commerce guild or the Techno Union or the Bank guild in Star Wars.

Federations are not a type of government. You can have kingdoms, dictatorships and democracies in federations. Federations are unions and not states. It's like the EU or the HRE in EU4. Not a own government for your faction. The federation is what you call 'Alliance of multiple races'.

Democracies, Dictatorships and kingdoms are already confirmed.

Glad to hear those types are included. The more options and variations the better. :)

I would like to see strait up mega companies, as their own playable government forms. I also think that would be a good addition to EUIV, but that isn't the point of this

Hopefully we gonna have some futuristic governments, such as technocracy, hive mind and robot controlled government.

Also I would like to see merchant republics and theocracies. Space Venice and papal state for the domination!

MegaCorp Inc would be an awesome nation.
Head of State is the CEO or Board Chairman, Head of Government is the COO etc.
If anyone has played EVE Online, think Caldari, just slightly more dystopian!

I have a nerdboner. ._.
