I would love to see a game that encompasses the following.

CKII - starting year, no more than your continent is exposed. Have the council system, the heir system (running throughout).
Once you progress to 1400 - you move over to EU4 type of gameplay, expansion, ending of the crusades, building up of tech, colonies etc, but still keeping the heir system.
1800 - Vicky 2: Moving more onto economics of the game, great powers, cabinets, active trading
HOI 3 - moving on to global war and finally ultimate conquest.

I realise it would be difficult to do, but man, it would be something amazing to me! :D

The converters allow to do that.

Sure, they are now pretty shaky (Crusader Kings I-->Europa Universalis II-->Victoria-->Hearts of Iron II converting worked liek a charm.)

Seeing as by 1400 most people would already have world conquest...

Sigh, nothing will ever beat Kingdom Come though. :(

How could you have WC if you were unable to see beyond your continent until late 1400s?

They just need to allow large blobs to fracture and fall apart.

That's what converters are for.

I don't think you should make them all into one game.

I think PDS should do EXACTLY what they have been doing and continue until I die of old age. That would be fine with me.

My favourite game to do that in would combine the character and family dynamics of CKII, the war mechanics of EUIV and the economic system of Vicky II (I do not know HOI enough to have a picture of what I want from there).

A grand campaign game has to have a single unifed ruleset. Later technological or social advancements can be additional features, but have to fit those base rules. For example how civilization always made their airplanes work, different but still the same. You seem to want to change the rules at certain times, well then just convert from one game to another.
But the problem is the eras are so different it's hard to make a single ruleset and ofc the Problem is each game has a different focus, CK2 is character/dynasty driven, vicky by economy and politics etc.
The game would need to very dynamic, more so than the current games are. But holy shit what kind of genius game it would be if we had economy & population simulation like in Vicky 2 and dynasties like in CK2 with indepth technology and military that HoI brings in a single game.

I'm kinda hoping to do this in the near future, with--as people have mentioned--a focus on character-influenced playthrough. I've exited CK2 games with fairly interesting and fertile outcomes by playing it as a story instead of a rampant, all-devouring hive mind brain-god. I'm sure the same could be said for EU4, Vicky 2, and by next year HOI4.

i'd like to see EU4 with a HOI 3 map. that'll guarantee the impossibility of a world conquest!

EDIT: and an extremely ultra-aggressive and highly vindictive AI to boot.
