Summary

Grand Wedding - Throw Out Event is extremely destructive

Description

Grand weddings are seeming to be a very bad idea for any ruler to pursue. I am hosting a grand wedding with the maximum of amenities and I've received the "Thrown Out" event FOURTEEN TIMES (so far, the wedding isn't over). This event alone has caused me to get 3 rivals in a single wedding, and removed 14 guests from the wedding (that's almost a quarter of all of the guests). My character is even an eager reveler. I also got my wife as a rival for a different event, making this grand wedding utterly not worth it. My wife has since been murdered (again, the wedding isn't over yet), but that's unrelated to this Thrown Out insanity.

All three of my new rivals had +100 opinion of me before becoming my rivals, one of them even still has +100 opinion of me. If an event fires where I am a participant, I should really have the ability to make a decision on how I am handling it. But all fourteen of these thrown out events my character removed these people without any interaction from me. Why can someone who regards me so highly be capable of being my rival so easily?

On an aside, why is every rival's first course of action to murder. Can't they like, siphon funds, break up friendships, cause issues in my counties or something? A rival in this game is like a zombie, their only thoughts or goals are to murder. A rival in my mind should seek to disrupt my power and perhaps resort to murder if they are vengeful, deceitful, or sadistic. A nemesis should have the goal of ending your life. Instead, my courtiers are constantly murdering each other or trying to murder me.

Steps to reproduce

Have a grand wedding. The Thrown Out event does not give a course of action for the player. It just happens, triggering rivals without any interaction from the player. The event can cause people with very high opinion of the player to suddenly be rivals, even if they would still have very high opinion of the player afterwards.

I agree this event is firing way too often. I have done 3 grand weddings and every time made 4-7 enemies, also usually with people I had great relationships with beforehand

Well, I'm not sure what you have tried. But my suggestion would be to have a few different grand weddings with guests that all have very high opinion of the player. The issue is this thrown out event, which doesn't prompt the player for any choice. You'll have to check the activity log in the Grand Wedding to see these events.

First, why don't I get a chance to decide what happens in this event? Second, why can someone with very high opinion of me become my rival from this event? Third, why does this event have such a high rate to occur. In my save game, the grand wedding activity log shows it occurred 14 times. That gave me 3 rivals with people who still like me even after becoming my rivals. There were only like 64 guests to begin with, so I have thrown out almost one fourth of all of the guests.
