Ok, I have a minor aar report based on some testing for Jord's 4th Crusade, and I have to say it was one of my favorite 40 years!

Playing as Prince Llywelyn I of Gwynedd, I was able to vasselize Powys through war and take Maelienydd without much difficultly. I needed just one more Welsh provance to proclaim Kingship title. Well, the evil King John became papal controller! And usually his traits facilitate his vassals to break free and England goes into its Second Anarchy. However, John successfully excummunicated his enemies and held strong.

Evidentily he also excummunicated the King of France, for within 40 years some two titled count from Poland took the King of France title! Now France is a checkered board mess!

Prince Llywelyn, however, was able to secure an alliance with Queen Alyse de Thouars de Dreux of Brittany. Queen Alys took Anjou, Poitiou, and vassalized half of Ireland, and is more or less one of the greater powers in Western Europe! Currently the Crusader Queen is leading her armies into Egypt!

Meanwhile, the kingdom of Nicea has taken back most of Byzantium, and the King of the Latin Empire has been sent packing to Flanders, where he maintains his lofty title on a count's income.

The Republic of Venice has taken all of Northern Itally south of the Po River, down to the Papal lands, and has also taken Egypt! Can the Consul of Venice create the Consul of Egypt title? Additionally, the Republic of Venice is at war with the kingdom of Thessely, with the kingdom located just north of the Po River! So there are constant battles north and south of the river. Its amazing!

The Kingdom of Sicilly has taken all of the souther part of Itally.

Meanwhile, the Principality of Gwynedd is biddin its time to save enough funds to become a kingdom in its own right. But those darned Templars keep wanting to set up shop in Gwynedd! Normally I may be interested but not when trying to save moola for a new crown.

edit!

Llywelyn has died and has been beautified!!!

St. Llywelyn of Wales!

Haha!

Dafydd ap Llywelyn has saved the money and is now King of Wales, and the English Marcher lords in Dyfed (Pembroke) and S. Wales and pledged to me, in part I suspect because an evil King John still weilds the Papal stick wildly about!

nice. I love playing as wales, that DVIP wales pack actually makes uniting wales a challange, whereas before, I could just get the county of glamorgen to ally and pledge to me by 1071, create the king title, and then get the Deheubarth duke to pledge, uniting wales by 1072. *yawn*

Yes, and it you look at the way the new map is drawn, you are encouraged to build in the same manner as Llywelyn did in the 4th Crusade (1204) scenario.

Llywelyn is already Prince of Gwynedd, and has Powys Fadog (represented as lower Gwynedd... the Perfeddwld) and the lords of Ceredigion and Ystrad Tywi (this actually happened in 1216 but for dramatic effect we had this occur in 1204). Llywelyn then has to take Mortimer countroled Mailenydd, and then maybe Pembroke (Dyfed) and the Brecons to unit Wales! lol.

Its great.

I can't even look at the Wales map in the unaltered game. And I hope that Paradox will truely look at how much nicer the map is now. The whole map propabably would benifit from a redo.
