Hello everyone...

I have a slightly weird event that i came along when playing Russia in my recent IGC. (latest versions, both EU and IGC) I was playing with the Byzantium option on, and when i loaded my game somewhere around 1525, something strange happened. I didnt notice it at first, but merchants from Greece began to pop up in some CoT's. Didnt really bother me, but at a certain time i went to take a look at how the Turks were doing... and then i noticed another Greek fleet (13 ships) out in the sea next to Thrace. "Hmmm, how cute, those Greeks actually revolted and declared independance!", i was thinking to myself. But then i scrolled down a little bit, only to discover that there wasnt a single province owned by the Greeks. Some further searching around the map revealed that Byzantium now proudly had the Greek flag flying over Thrace. So basically, Byzantium somehow got replaced entirely by Greece, without Greece existing in the provinces where it should be (i believe Hellas and Morea?? correct me if im wrong, please) Very strange of course - unless im not informed about some kind of new feature in the IGC which causes Greeks (who fell from the skies) to invade and annex Byzantium... which i doubt, of course :D
If im missing something important here, please let me know...

I have screenshots for those interested - contact me on ICQ (number in my profile) if youre really interested :)

thanks for your help, people!

Hmmm... Hellas & Morea are indeed the Greek provinces...
It appears to be a tag problem. I had it while playing an IGC after having played Byzantine saga. Sicily declared independance and instead Trebizonde popped up... weird

I think it is a tag problem. Byzantine option doesn't seem to be flawless... Anyways...

Well no... I just did a re-install so that all traces of that Byzantine sage were gone... I later installed Byzantium on a virgin copy again

I never used the Byzantine Saga on this installation of EU... so thats not it. Any new ideas, my friend? :)

Did you reset the IGC options between reloads, perhaps to start another game? That might cause this I suppose, since Byzantium and Greece use the same tags.

Oink? Howcome? sure they have experienced Greek influence... But imho they're Romans

Don't start this again Vulture (you did read the big thread in the EUII forum on the appropriate name for the Byzantine Empire, didn't you?)

They were Greek, it was a Greek empire. Not Roman, probably not since the mid sixth century, and certainly not from the mid-seventh.

But it was the Roman Empire no ifs, and, or buts.:D

Now on this topic I've had it too. Go into IGC config make sure the Byzantine option is on instead of Balkanization. If you still are having the Greek flag, you need to reinstall the IGC. If it's just the name Greece where Byzantine (Roman Empire on mine :D). You need to go into Config. Open HEINames with a text editor not excel. Then change Greece to Byzantine (Roman Empire). Then you need to open text with a text editor scroll down until you find Tags with the country names and change Greece again.
