Having a -7 health epidemic that pops up once every three weeks in some part of the world is way, way out of whack. I had to modify the disease so that it doesn't infect anyone just to make my game playable. I'm not exaggerating when I say within 50 years nearly every great house was extinct because the grey plague just popped up all over westeros and killed everyone. It needs to be nerfed for the sake of making the mod more playable. Because as it stands it's just a game of "when will the grey plague kill everyone in my realm?" that makes all of your expansion pointless.

Sorry, just a rant. I was really enjoying my Ironborn game and then boom, game over because RNG said grey plague was fashionable this week.

And here I thought it was just because I was planning with Harrenhal as my capital... :p

Glad to hear I'm not alone in this.

To best prevent this, what game rules does everyone recommend I should play with? Is the Grey Plague considered a "minor epidemic?" If so, I toned down its game rule to see if that helps. I'm only about 10 years into my save. I did notice the Grey Plague popped up in Essos.

I think for now, I'm also going to edit the trait and make it give -5 health instead of -7. When you think about it, -7 health is insane, because for some characters, that basically sets their health to 0! I agree it should be deadly, and I still like to see it occur, but hopefully with those changes, it will make more sense.

I made it minus 4 health and that brings it more into the realms of playability, it's a complete death sentence for anyone that has a bad treatment or prior wound/negative health trait but doesn't completely wipe out every nation in the game within 100 years like it does now.
