Hackertool attack in a HOI MP game!

My advice to everybody is to update your virus and trojan defences before joining an online game. Norton Antivirus saved me today from being infected by the hackertool virus.

Anybody now why this virus attack showed up during a MP game?

What does this virus do? im not sure what some of these viruses are And if it is what i think it is, i grabbed a virus that messed with all my passwords and stuff and caused quite a few problems, but ive only run into it once.

Hey, could anyone give me a good link to a place to download some free anti-virus program. Or maybe a program to search for (Is Norton free?).

I used to use the combo "Norton Anitvirus" & "Zone Alarm" but I got tired of them. Now I use the totally free combo of "AVG 6.0" & "Kerio Personal Firewall". They work excellent - they are small, free and effective!

Ok, you are spreading a panick without knowing what is really happening. The Norton AntiVirus is design to prevent malicious codes from accessing your computer, that includes HOI. When HOI tries to write or read from your HD in the MP game the AntiVirus will lock up the game and report to you that someone is trying to gain access to your files. So next time turn off Norton before running the game.

I run Norton during MP games and have never had problems.

well yes..on the other hand, I DID pop for an actual virus the other night while playing hoi. Wether or not it was a result of HOI connerction, my email, or ICQ i am not positive. But i`ve dealt with the virus i found before and it`s annoying. Again, im not positive it was recceived while playing..but i know it piggybacks on emails, and i scan everything in and out. I had sent email prior to the gmae no problem but after a crash and an attempt to send the save gma ei got a pop for hybris32 which is an annoyance virus that messed up your wsock and wsock32 dll`s and subsequently can cause connectivity problems. it wil lalso replicate, change it`s file names, and piggyback to all your emails.

bottom line, play with people you know and trust and do regular scans. i will now scan before logging off each night jus tto be sure. Other than that no panics needed hehe
